Tramp Harbor Moon in the beach

The song Tramp Harbor Moon was written by myself and Rochelle Munger when we were in the band 5:01 together back in the mid 2K-oughts. Rochelle came to rehearsal with this very catchy banjo tune she had written and named after the bay on Vashon Island that the house she was renting overlooked. We all loved it immediately, and after some time I took it and added a vocal melody and lyrics. Tramp Harbor Moon to this day is the most requested original song I get, and it always makes me think of Rochelle, who was sadly taken from us by cancer way too early.

A band mate asked me for a recording of the song Tramp Harbor Moon so he could learn it as it was originally written (with the banjo prominent). Unfortunately there’s not a lot of recordings from the time it was written, but I was reminded of this cool video (courtesy of Marc Pease) of a bunch of friends playing it on the beach at Tramp Harbor on the night of a super-moon/lunar eclipse. Rochelle is playing the banjo.
